On the evening of May the 15th 2017, DTSO coach number 76275 was delivered from its former home at St Leonards depot. The coach was purchased from, and overhauled by, S tLeonards railway engineering ltd, and is now in its new home on the Swanage railway. The coach looks fantastic in its blue and grey livery, and the team at St Leonards are due a lot of credit. The coach will now be wrapped in tarpaulin, to protect it from the elements, while we await the restoration of the next vehicles.

Contract signed for TBSK number 79824

Following on from receiving a grant from the central Swanage Railway trust, we now have funding in place, and a contract has been signed, for the overhaul of TBSK coach number 70824. The work will be done by the Midland railway at Butterley, and hopefully by the end of the year, we will have a second TC coach at the Swanage Railway. Once the coach is at the SR, volunteers will then be able to start the technical work required, to get the push pull and other electrical equipment working again.

Appeal for Funds

The fact that we have DTSO 76275 complete, and work starting soon on TBSK 70824, is a fantastic achievement, and this is mainly thanks to people digging deep, and donating to our project. The best way for us to steadily build up funds, is for people to set up a monthly standing order. Just a few pounds a month, soon builds up, as can be seen with the success so far. We now of course need to turn our attention to funding the overhaul of DTSO number 76322, to give us a 3TC. The estimate for this work is £40-£50K, so please help us achieve our goal, and donate whatever you can. See the “how can I help” link for information on how to do this. Also, remember the gift aid form, as we get an extra 20% on donations, when tax payers complete this form.

Many thanks ,George Rashbrook
